Measuring small...

So I had a doc appt. on Monday to make sure "Bucky" was doing well. The last time I went to the doctor was on Dec. 12th, when I developed a hernia. No fun, but really no big deal. At that point I was 31 weeks and 3 days and was measuring right at 31 weeks. Well when I went on Monday I only measured 31 weeks again. My midwife was very nonchalant about it...making it seem like no big deal, but 3 weeks off seems a bit much to me. She ordered an ultrasound for me to make sure all is well, and although I was calm at that time, I'm getting more and more anxious to see if everything is okay. I don't go to the doc until Friday for the ultrasound... This might be the longest 5 days ever! From what I've been told and read online, it is either absolutely nothing to worry about, or it is something serious. How lovely. There is no middle ground on this one. Has anyone else measured small? If so...what happened????!!!!

Had to post this picture of Zach because his little face just melts my heart! Adorable!

Tooth Fairy

Saw this idea and thought it was adorable and not too difficult to make! (For anyone who knows me, that means I'll ask my mother to make one! lol!) Found it HERE for more money than I typically spend... but a VERY cute idea nonetheless!

HILARIOUS!

My friend Leslie found this story in our local paper and posted it on her blog. After reading it and just about wetting myself, I thought I would share it with the rest of you! Pay special attention to the last sentence! Enjoy THIS story!

Crib

A quick preview of the crib:I need to iron everything and really put it together, but at least you can see what it looks like! And I promise to take some pictures this week of my growing belly!

Hope all is well with everyone! All my love!

Thank You Hoggan's!!!!!!!!!!

So I got home today and found a package waiting for me! Of course I was thrilled...I mean who doesn't love to get a package in the mail!?!?!?!! The return address said Hoggan's...which I knew to be Meredith's parents, Marilyn and Bruce. I tore open the paper and opened the box to find the CUTEST baby gifts! All individually wrapped with baby footprint ribbon and all perfect for not only our baby boy, but my rough and tough hubby as well! A backhoe, a heavy hauler romper, the most adorable pair of stride rites, and a wooden train! The shoes especially tickled me pink (or should I say blue!)! I mean I've seen cute shoes before, but something about this little pair of blue and white shoes won me over! I'll be sure to send a formal thank you note, but I had to blog about our wonderful gift from wonderful people! The Hoggan's always treated me like family and I feel so loved and blessed to continue to have a relationship with them...even if they are 3000 miles away. Thanks Marilyn and Bruce! Hope to see you oh so soon!

Oh Boy...

I just found Kris' baby book. One word describes how I am feeling right now. YIKES. He was 9lbs 3 oz and 22 inches long. Pretty much he was a beast! At least I can't imagine giving birth to anything that large! I am praying our little guy is more like his momma...a good 7 pounder! And, to top it off, Kris grew 12 inches in his first year of life! I swear he was as big as Blake (my 18 month old nephew) is now! Plus, he wore a size 7 shoe when he was 14 months old. NO ONE BUY SHOES FOR THIS CHILD! lol!

Oh goodness. I think I'm starting to panic already! Kally- take slow, deep breaths...

Belly

Here is the baby bump. Yep...definitely getting BIGGER! I am 7 1/2 months here. Guess I should listen to the horizontal stripe rule...lol! Do you think they make me look fat? lol! Oh...and so sorry about the glare in the second picture!

Stockings...

Hooray! Kris and I got our new stockings, delivered via express mail from Santa Janet's workshop! My mom made it a tradition to make new stockings (she made our original ones after we were born) for all of her children once they got married. She then makes them for the grandchildren as they arrive. Since Kris and I were married this year, we got our stockings! Baby will have to wait until next year...I'm sure he won't mind! I've literally been waiting to get my new stocking for YEARS! Ever since Mom made Kelsee and Jason's I've wanted one of my own, and now I have it! Hanging proudly in my living room, looking as darling as ever! She does such a good job and each stocking is unique to the person she's making it for! Kris' stocking has tools (oh so appropriate!) and mine has an ice skater with big eyes! lol! Kris thinks my obsession with the stockings is a bit odd, but it's just one of those special things my mom does, and BY FAR one of the best Christmas presents I've ever received! Thanks Mom!

Peppermint Ice Cream

Another guilty indulgence of mine...Peppermint Ice Cream. This was something else I picked up in college...thank you Meredith and Graham family! Add a little chocolate syrup and we're good to go! I've already bought a carton and I'm thoroughly enjoying it! lol! Trying not to eat too much at a time though...baby kicks like crazy from the sugar! I only wish it was available all year long!

DONNY HATHAWAY

So folks, there he is...the one and only Donny Hathaway! For those of you who don't know who he is, let me fill you in... He is the greatest Christmas singer of all time! Okay, so maybe not the greatest, but his song "This Christmas" is by far the BEST Christmas song of all time! I found the song my freshman year of college and have loved it ever since! I even hung Donny's picture on my door because my love for him and this song was so deep! Well Christmas is right around the corner, which means it is time to bring Donny back to life! I listened to the song about 10 times today, moving and grooving the whole time! Wonderful! Laura and Meredith...I know you appreciate this post...having heard this song close to a million times at Hinckley Hall! To all who read this, please download "This Christmas" by Donny Hathaway and fill your home with Christmas joy!

Baby Clothes

Just had to post some pics of the cute clothes we've been given lately! (These are my favorite!) Hanna gave us the adorable sweater and the striped outfit, which are even more fabulous in person! I love the little beanie... it will be perfect cause this kid will be here when it's COLD outside! And we're thinking he will come home in the snuggly cream sleeper that Kourtney found at Gap Outlet! The blue sweater one piece outfit might be the most adorable thing ever! It's funny because no one wants to buy him clothes yet because if he is anything like his dad, he'll be 3 feet long at birth! So I have a few things here and there, along with a pile from Kristin, but like I said, we're all still a bit hesitant about sizing! Less than 3 months left! Hooray!

Halloween Mummies

We had a Halloween party at Kourtney's house and I decided to go all out (hahahahahaha) and make a fun treat for everyone. I made cute mummies that not only looked adorable, but tasted great as well! I literally had to fight off Kris and Kirby! They took a while, but it was a fun way to be festive and get into the Halloween spirit! The kids had a great time trick or treating, while Kris and Kris W. got creative with their pumpkins! Sunshine and Brent Smith came over for the party as well...all in all it was a great night!

My Dad...

So small town politics is always rough, and unfortunately being a good person and doing the right thing doesn't always mean you get what you want and or deserve. Dad didn't end up winning, shocking friends and family alike, but he was up against the current mayor and the whole city council...many of whom weren't looking for the type of changes my father wanted to put in place. I guess Morehead wasn't ready for vision or a positive change. I got a little sad about it last night... Dad is such a good, honest man, and I know he was disappointed, but he is also one to keep moving forward, doing incredible things with his life! I know whatever endeavor he chooses to do next will be done with perfection! He is beyond talented, the smartest man I know, and the kind of father every girl dreams of having!

Dad- I am so proud of you! Mayor or not, you're still #1 in my book! Thanks for showing us all that it's okay to go for your dreams! I love you!

Voting and Baby Boys!

So today is the big day for not only our nation, but my father as well! Here in Morehead we had a chance to vote for President and for Mayor, which is a big deal, since ole pops is running! Kris and I voted around 11 am and had about an hour wait...which is great because that means so many people are voting! The people at the polls said this was the largest turnout they had ever seen in Morehead! Let's hope the people of Morehead choose correctly (voting for Keith) and that the people of this nation chose correctly (....!!!!????.....)! We get the results of the Mayor Race around 7 pm...yikes! I am praying we're having a celebration party at that time!

As for other news...Kris and I are having a baby boy! We've known for 1.5 months about him, but didn't want to post anything because none of my family in Utah knew until our trip a few weeks ago! I am due Feb. 10th and although I'm very excited, I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed! Thanks to everyone for the very sweet comments about my baby bump...it feels odd to have this little guy growing inside me and watching my whole body GROW! I've also always been a very active person, so not being able to run and do my crazy aerobics each day is wearing on me! No worries though...in 3 months I'll be able to get back on the streets, running like a mad woman! We haven't decided on names yet...we know the middle name will be Phillip (after Kris and his father), but other than that, everything is still up in the air! I feel much better now, after having been extremely sick until a few weeks ago. I'm still nauseous and the doc says I'm a bit anemic, but other than that, all is well!

Trunk or Treat

We had a great time at trunk or treat this year! Kourtney planned basically the whole thing and it was a screaming success! There were over 125 people there...which is AWESOME!!!!! Kris helped by making the cute pumpkin for the pumpkin bean bag toss and I had a booth where the kids got to dip pretzels in orange chocolate and then roll in sprinkles. There was also pumpkin bowling, a face painting booth, lucky ducks, fishing, foam candy corn creations, etc...tons of stuff for everyone to do! The ward really pitched in with the food too! Lots of hot dogs, beans, pies, etc...!!! Oh and the trunks were better than ever! One family got sarcastic with Dads mayor signs...we all thought it was pretty funny! Below are some pictures! Enjoy!Haley as a High School Musical Cheerleader
Shayla-I loved her outfit! Very "fallish"!!!A spooky scene by one of the trunks!Brady and I! He was such a cute pirate!Dad's signage...someone has a great sense of humor!

Baby Bump

Please excuse the really ugly facial picture...I hadn't really gotten ready for the day...but regardless, here is a picture of the baby bump. Not much to show...but in the last 2 weeks it has really grown! I am a little over 6 months now and it seems as though everything but my "belly" is growing! lol! I'll post more as this kid gets bigger!

Crib Quilt and Bumper

I found a great deal at Pottery Barn Kids and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to use my purchasing power! I had been looking everywhere for a crib set that I loved and hadn't seen anything that really caught my eye. I logged on to pbkids, knowing that everything on their site was about $100 out of my price range, but decided to take a peek just to be safe! I clicked on the clearance section and there it was...my dream crib set! Exactly what I'd wanted! Nothing too themey or big kiddish or cartoonish! It was simple, would go with the wall color, could be paired with a lot of different patterns, and I knew Mom could whip up some cute accessories to match! Plus, it was cheaper than the sets that you buy at Wal-Mart! Hooray! Another bonus...Kris actually liked it! Kourtney and I laughed because as I was debating whether or not to buy it, I felt the baby kick hard for the first time, which Kourt later claimed to be a sign! lol! Pictures of the bumper are below. One side is patchwork plaids and the other is blue with white stars. The quilt is at Mom's where some curtains, etc... are a work in progress!

Living Room

So this house is getting closer to being done a little more each day! The living room is missing only 1 piece of base board (which will be finished today) and then we have to hang the curtains and two more pictures and we're done! YAY! It feels and looks so nice to have it all snuggly...especially with the cold weather that has attacked Kentucky the past few days! The crown looks incredible (thanks Kris) and all of our random pieces of furniture are coming together quite nicely! Next we'll finish the dining room and then we can say that the central part of our home is done! Hooray! Here are two pics...one is kinda dark...Sorry!

House Update

Here are some updated pictures of our house! The yard has seed and straw down, the driveway is done, the trim and molding inside is getting closer each day and we're starting to unpack all of the boxes. The kitchen is all done now! HOORAY! And I've actually used it a few times in one week! Kris is shocked! So far so good! We're still trying to sort out where we want to put/hang everything...but we're getting there...slowly but surely!! See below! Zach came out one day to help with the trim work and would say, "Oh wow! Cool! Good job!" everytime Kris cut a piece of trim!

Flashback to the Nineties! Clueless anyone?

This post is for my best pal Kristen Porter. So Kris and I were shopping at Gateway Mall in Utah when I ran across the outfit pictured below. I just about wet myself when I saw it, because Cher wears the exact same one, except in yellow, in the movie Clueless! And anyone that knows me knows that I LOVE THAT MOVIE! Kristen and I used to watch it all the time when we were younger! In fact, I can quote almost the whole thing! I loved their clothes, their hair, everything! Unfortunately the picture doesn't show the mini skirt that well, but I can still picture it being worn with thigh highs and mary janes clogs! Classic! Kris just rolled his eyes when I forced him to take the picture...but he wouldn't really understand!!! Porter, this post is for you! AS IF!

Papaw Kappes for Mayor!

On Oct. 16th the whole fam got together to help Dad do a little campaigning at the annual Homecoming parade! Kris pulled the trailer that we loaded down with hay bales, mums, and grandkids. All the grandchildren wore shirts that said "Papaw Kappes for Mayor" on the front and then "Vote Kappes" on the back. They were ADORABLE! Hanna, Kristin, Cameron, and myself all rode along as well. We passed out candy as the kids screamed "VOTE FOR PAPAW"!!!!! It was a blast, despite the short thunderstorm and the kids loved it. This Saturday we are doing a campaign blitz in Morehead and are going to try and hit up every home! I really hope this works and that my Dad gets elected! I know he's do a terrific job! He always gives 100% and that is just what Morehead needs! Here are some pics of Blake and Kennedy wearing their shirts throughout the week to support Papaw!
