House Update

Just a few pictures to show you what Kris has been up to at our new home! We move out of our townhouse on Wed/Thurs and plan on staying with family for a week or two until the house is completely done. We're waiting on the people from the electric company to come set our pole and for the garage door to come in. We also got blasted by the news that our interior doors were going to come in about a week behind schedule, meaning our trim, carpet, hardwood, etc...can't be done yet. Kris is stressed to say the least, but he's keeping a smile and working VERY hard! The paint looks INCREDIBLE and I LOVE the tile! It's hard to tell what it looks like from these pictures since they were taken at night, but it gives you some kind of idea. Forgot to photograph the dining room, my favorite room in the house...argh! Also don't have the office picture up either. It's pretty snazzy too! Will get those up asap!Newly poured garage floor. Boy it is shiny right now!The kitchen! I can't wait to see what the cabinets look like in this room! Yay!
One of the extra bedrooms! I love this green! It's hard to tell what the color looks like, but it's fabulous! The living room. The color is a bit darker than pictured and we're waiting to put crown molding on the trays...you can see where the paint isn't finished. The master bath! A light blue that looks AWESOME with the tile! It's very refreshing! The laundry room...just showing you the tile. Grout will be done by Monday!

Black Beauty

Oh do I have a story for you! Last week amid the holiday affairs, Hannah, my seven year old niece, had a mild breakdown. The family was all getting ready to head to the lake and there sat Hannah, complete with a bright pink cast on her arm. Feeling horrible that once again she couldn't participate in all the water fun, I packed her up and headed to the movie store where she got to rent two movies of her choice. A special treat for our injured lad. Twenty minutes later she was no longer a teary-eyed girl as she sat down to watch Black Beauty and a very random Barbie movie.

Folks, this is where it gets good! Tonight as Kris and I are heading home from the lake, he informs me that he's going to stop at the movie store and see if there is anything good. I was in my own vehicle and decided to come on to the house. Just after I nestled into a hot bath, my phone rings. It's Kris asking me, "Kally, did you rent Black Beauty and Barbie something something or other?" Just remembering the movies for the first time in 7 days I fess up and let him know that I'd rented them for Hannah and blah blah blah...you get the point. He then comences to tell me that he's been giving the lady at the movie store a piece of his mind for ten minutes and trying to convince her that he DID NOT rent Barbie and Black Beauty. He tells her to look at the other movies he's rented lately...all of which are very manly and bloody. He lets her know that he DOES NOT have children or enemies who would rent movies like that on his account. In desperation, he puts a password and id verification on his beloved rental account. As he pays for his new movies, the lady says sheepishly, "Well I didn't think you looked like the Black Beauty type of guy."

At this point in the story I'm almost drowning because I am laughing so hard. In fact, I'm laughing as I type this! Oh how I wish I coud have seen his face when she announced to the world that, "Sorry sir, you have two late fees on your account...Black Beauty and Barbie." I hope none of us forget that I married a very manly man, all 6 feet 6 inches of him! He drives a duelie. He does construction for a living. His arms are the size of well fed pythons. Oh but alas...I guess even the manliest of men sometimes get in the mood for the classics...Black Beauty anyone?

4th of July, 2008

Wow! What a weekend! Kolby, Danielle and the kids came down from Ohio so we had the whole brood together...all 28 of us! Unfortunately the rain put a damper on our lake plans, but since there are so many of us, it's a party no matter what we do! On the 4th we had a cookout at Mom and Dad's house with friends and family alike. We played volleyball, road bikes, did crafts, and made a lot of food! Dad and the tourism commission worked really hard to get the fireworks show back in Morehead this year, so I felt awful when the rain came and spoiled the show. (They were hard to see, very sparse, and just not what we're used to!) Many of us sat under the canopy on the pontoon boat in the driveway and enjoyed the show regardless of the poor weather! Funny site to see! On a reflective note, everyone of us couldn't help but notice the absence of Thom Yancy, who passed away in the fall. He was our go-to 4th of July ice cream man and he was dearly missed. We love you Thom!

On the 5th we had another party! Kolby did a great fireworks show last year and was pumped to do another this year! The 28 of us got together with even more friends and neighbors out on the farm and had an even greater time! We did foil dinners and cobbler, which was oh so tasty! Then as it got dark, Kolby set up his master fireworks show! And oh what a show it was! About 100 times better than the city's and the kids absolutely loved it! We had everything you could have asked for, some of the fireworks even going 400ft high! Incredible! By the time the show was done we were all exhausted and so we parted ways.

We had church together on the 6th and then parted ways later that day. It's always so wonderful to get together as a whole family and this years 4th topped every other. We are all so blessed! Enjoy the pictures!

Blake's Bday Party

Blake celebrated his 1st birthday over a week ago and the family had a great time! We cooked out at Kirby's house and Blake had a turtle birthday cake because the kid looks just like a turtle! He LOVED his cake and all the kids thought the toys were a blast! Melissa stood her ground with Kris W. by attacking him with a water gun and the bouncy balloons I brought were enjoyed far more by the adults than by the kids. All in all it was a great evening! The pictures below give you a better idea of our day...my favorite is Blake taking a nap before the big event started! And Kelsee's face below is classic!!!
